Animals are cute and I've had them my whole life.
But, I was never totally fond of dogs unless it belonged to someone else.
Well, we have Paco - a Chihuahua/Terrier cross that looks like the dog in Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Paco is here because mum and the kids saw him at the animal shelter. Rarely are there little dogs and Paco had already been brought back by another family because he was "too clingy". Whatever.
The reasoning for Paco's existence with us is two fold...
1.) Mum & kids felt sorry for him.
2.) Mum thought I could use the company as a work-from-home dad while the kids are in school!
Okay...puppy eyes behind bars is sad. Walk away from it and it's not sad anymore; you move on.
But, to say that I need company? The whole point of working from home especially when the kids are at school is the fact that there should be no distractions. I don't sit & watch TV etc. and can get a lot done.
However, Paco is a barker. Paco barks at EVERYTHING.
Granted, someone walking a dog - that's exciting for Paco.
But, lets see what Paco's typical day consists of...
Get up - maybe go out if he really has to pee & poo. When outside, he runs to the neighbors fence that have 4 dogs. Bark, Bark, Bark. Moves on the other neighbor's fence that has two dogs. Bark, Bark, Bark. Hears movement at the back neighbors and their two dogs. Bark, Bark, Bark. There is actually a path he has made in the grass from going to one fence in particular. Okay, pee, poo now breakfast.
Dog walker...bark, bark, bark. Kids on street...bark, bark, bark. I think you get the point but I was saving the best for last...
Across the street...our neighbor does dog grooming from her house!!!!!! And she's getting busier!!!! Which means more cars, people & dogs pulling up!!!!!
"Keep me company"? Hardly! I yell at the dog all day then yell at the kids when they get home!
I actually had a customer on the front step asking "how many dogs do you have in there?"
We won't even get into who picks up his poo etc.
