Okay...This is new to me and I will admit I'm 3/4 the way through a magnum of wine but this topic has been on my mind for quite some time... Mompreneurs!
I totally understand and appreciate the legit "Mompreneurs" but when does that label not fit anymore?
Yes, you started a business as a mom. Fine. You built up your business while you were a mom. Fair enough.
Now, some of these moms have business partners and staff but they still want votes to be "Mompreneurs of the Year".
Seriously! Yes, you might leave the office to take Billy to the dentist. You might even take Bobby-Sue to gymnastics...but wait a minute...you have 30 people on payroll to cover for you while you are away from the office.
To me, you are a "Business Person". (If we want to be PC.)
What is the true definition of "Mompreneur"? I don't have an answer but I'm throwing the question out there.
I'm not saying dads are any different but what irks me is the fact that there is no "Dadpreneur" votes or contest.
There are very few dad based web sites or social outlets.
(Recently I have come across a couple on Twitter but it still seems to be a rogue community.)
As an aside, I have to let you know this though....I was following a "mom group" on Twitter (only because our kids labels cater to a specific demographic and there are valid tips & tricks a dad can pick up from those sites.)
Mother's Day postings - "Mom is Queen". "Kids & dad should do this & that." etc. Fair Enough. It's a mom site.
Father's Day rolls around..."Forget Dad, treat yourself..." It may not be the exact wording but I took offense and made a comment.
Well, wasn't I a dick!
Some woman actually replied and basically said..."what were you expecting, it's a site for moms."
OKAY!
So hence my blog.
I'm not going to bash moms or what they contribute to the family. They are a vital role in the family & it's dynamics.
This blog will be more about dad's roll and how I see things and how things have changed over the years & generations.
Take offense? Not my intention.
If you know me, I can be the biggest sarcastic S.O.B. around but I am not malicious.
I've already been told by "mum" that this cannot be something else that takes over my life, but as an avenue to vent, express, elaborate, discuss...so it will be.
That's it for now and any feed back or comments would be appreciated.
